AIC supports Yellow Wellies' Farm Safety Week 2024

This year's Farm Safety Week (22-26 July) seeks to "reset" how farmers approach farm safety and risk-taking, with the annual campaign led by charity the Farm Safety Foundation (Yellow Wellies) and supported by the Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC).

While 1% of the population in Great Britain works in farming, 16% of all workplace deaths occur in this industry according to the Health and Safety Executive's (HSE) Fatal Injuries in Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing Report in GB 2022/2023.

A total of 21 farm workers and six members of the public, including a child, lost their lives on farms in Great Britain over the past year.

The Yellow Wellies says these latest statistics show "no drastic improvement [in farm safety] which means that actions and attitudes of those working in the industry need a major rethink".

AIC encourages its Members to support Farm Safety Week by engaging with the campaign and sharing information with farming customers.

Visit the Yellow Wellies website to download a Farm Safety Week 2024 toolkit and find useful resources to share.
