Defra has today, 21 March 2025, announced the Food Strategy Advisory Board following the launch of the Food Strategy by the Secretary of State Steve Reed MP in December.  The Board, chaired by Minster Zeichner MP has a remit to advise Government on a clear vision and framework for change – supported by the Institute of Grocery Development and appointed Board members and wider stakeholder input.

It has four key aims:

  1. Provide more easily accessible and affordable healthy food
  2. Maintain our food security by building resilience
  3. Reduce the impact of farming and food production on nature, biodiversity and climate
  4. Ensure growth is at the heart of the strategy

AIC will provide further updates on this important Strategy as developments occur
