Context

AIC's Introduction to Sustainability for the Agri-Supply Industry training course provides an introduction to sustainability for Member, assurance scheme Participant and non-Member businesses within the agri-supply industry.

It is driven by the ambitions set out in AIC's Roadmap for a Sustainable Food Chain and influences within the agri-supply industry.

The training provides a basic understanding of sustainability influences, policies and ambitions which will in turn help those completing the self-assessment framework for their company.

This training must be undertaken by anyone completing the Sustainability Self-Assessment Framework.

What does the Introduction to Sustainability for the Agri-Supply Industry training cover?

The training is presented as online content with commentary throughout. An outline of the training is:

  1. Sustainability in context – definitions, the AIC Roadmap for a Sustainable Food Chain
  2. Environmental sustainability - net zero carbon and environmental targets within agriculture in the UK and globally
  3. Social sustainability - modern slavery and the UK Modern Slavery Act
  4. Examples of AIC's supporting initiatives

How does the training relate to AIC’s Sustainability Self-Assessment Framework and the AIC Roadmap for a Sustainable Food Chain?

The training aims to provide an introduction to sustainability for the agri-supply industry, considering the ambitions within the Roadmap and the influences within the industry.

It provides a basic understanding of sustainability influences, policies and ambitions, which will in turn help those completing the Sustainability Self-Assessment Framework for their company.

How long will it take to complete the training?

The training should take approximately 45 minutes to compelte, while the associated knowledge check should take approximately 10-15 minutes.

The material is broken down into four key sections with associated knowledge checks at the end of each section.

The training can be paused at any time and resumed again from the same point. It is possible to view the material a number of times, if required, and the course will remain in your personal dashboard for future reference.

How much does the training cost?

A nominal fee of £45 (excluding VAT) per person is being charged to cover the cost of hosting the training and the associated administration costs. 

This fee is payable to VBMS Ltd by credit or debit card at the time the "Introduction to Sustainability training for the Agri-Supply Industry" training is selected from the VBMS online store. You will receive an email receipt for the payment from VBMS Ltd, not AIC.

Payment of the £45 (excluding VAT) will load the training onto your AIC eLearning Portal dashboard. This is accessed using a VBMS log-in, which you will have set up during the purchase process on the VBMS website (see below for further details on how to do this).

How do I access the training?

The training is accessed via AIC’s Portal hosted on the VBMS website. To log in or register for an account, visit the AIC eLearning Portal on the VBMS website.

First time users will need to register an account by clicking on the "Register now" option in the top right-hand corner of the screen. You will be asked to provide your email address and to set a password.

This will create your own dashboard in AIC's Portal, and from here you will be able to purchase the Introduction to Sustainability for the Agri-Supply Industry from the VBMS Store (icon in the banner at the top of the screen) by paying the nominal fee by credit or debit card.

Once payment has been received, the training will load onto your personal dashboard.

Do I receive a certificate to confirm I have completed the training?

Yes, once the training and knowledge check have been successfully completed, a certificate of completion will be uploaded to your personal dashboards for you to download.

Do Feed Adviser Register (FAR) Members who have already completed Sustainability CPD modules need to undertake this training to be able to complete the Self-Assessment Framework for my company?

Yes, the training does cover some areas within sustainability which are not included within the feed adviser focused training.

It is a requirement if you are completing the Sustainability Self-Assessment Framework for your company to complete the Introduction to Sustainability for the Agri-Supply Industry training.
