The Red Tractor farm assurance scheme is seeking to appoint a new Chair for its Combinable Crops and Sugar Beet Sector Board.

Kit Papworth, the current Sector Chair, today (4 March) announced that he will step down from his role following his election as Chair of NFU Sugar.

The Combinable Crops and Sugar Beet Sector Chair vacancy is advertised on Red Tractor's website, including a full job description and details of the appointment process.

The Sector Chair is appointed as a Director of Red Tractor and a member of the Main Red Tractor Board. The position holder is also a member of the Standards Committee and potentially another sub-committee of the Main Board.

Engaging with sector board members and stakeholders - including growers, farming unions, processors, merchants, end customers, Trade Associations, the Food Standards Agency, other assurance schemes, and Certification Bodies - is a core responsibility of this position.

A recruitment and appointment process will be overseen by a subcommittee of the Combinable Crops and Sugar Beet Board and the Red Tractor Board’s Nominations Committee.

The closing date for applications is 4 April 2025. To apply, applicants should send a CV and a cover letter detailing their suitability for the role to [email protected].

For a confidential discussion about the role, email Red Tractor Director of Operations Philippa Wiltshire ([email protected]).
