UFAS 2024 Standard and Checklists finalised

UFAS participants can now download the final version of the UFAS Standards, and associated checklists.

This definitive version of the UFAS Standard has been published today, 20 September 2024, and is identified as Version 1 with a date of 1 October 2024. The changes from previously published versions dated March 2024 and July 2024 are very minor, and are summarised below:

A 4.3 Addition of 'must' Requirement
Participants and Applicants must notify the Certification Body in a timely manner where a Competent Authority takes Formal Action or withdraws Earned Recognition  for Food/ Feed safety issues.
C 2.4 Addition Interpretation
The Participant should be able to demonstrate how appropriate personnel are made aware of any suspensions or withdrawals from all relevant assurance schemes.

E 3.2 Additional words Further Information
UK/ EU Legislation on labelling and marketing feed requires that suppliers of complementary and compound feeds, upon request, supply customers with a formulation within a +/- 15% tolerance. It may be necessary to sign a confidentiality agreement to obtain this information. In the case of premixtures, suppliers are required to provide details of the feed materials used as carriers.
E 3.4 Additional line Interpretation Where the Participant manufactures feed on behalf of a non-assured customer the UFAS number should not be shown.
G 4.4 Deletion of words Requirement Facilities must be available for cleaning out of vehicles after tipping/ discharging or, with the agreement of the supplier/ owner of the raw material/ food/ feed, the driver be directed to a site approved by the Participant where sweeping/ washing out can take place.
G 8.4.5.1 Removal of duplication Requirement The Participant must confirm that any pesticides and fumigants applied to the incoming load are approved by the owner of the combinable crops.
H 1.2 Formatting of bullet point Interpretation N/A

K 1.3 Changed 8 to D Interpretation In all other cases, a Category 8D approval will be required.
K 1.5 Additional Line Further information Note that following the implementation of the Veterinary Medicines (Amendment etc.) Regulations 2024 a VMP authorised for use in animal feed is referred to as a “medicinal premix”

 

In addition, following the implementation of the Veterinary Medicines (Amendment etc.) Regulations 2024 in Great Britain, Appendix 2 has been added explaining the updated approval categories for businesses producing, storing or trading feeds containing controlled products.
